PERFORMANCE
But nothing actually happened

Documentary performative reading depicting the story of a journalist and a social activist living in eastern Germany, in Saxony. They try to live according to their values in a time of rising nationalist sentiment, but pay a heavy price: they experience persecution from radical chauvinist groups, which leads to deep anxiety, and as a result of ongoing harassment both decide to leave their jobs.

..

When they seek support, they are failed not only by the police and public institutions, but also by friends and family. From everyone they turn to for help, they hear that “nothing really happened.” As a result, completely isolated, they face the decision of whether to continue fighting for equal rights and safety, or to give up and passively wait for a better tomorrow.

..

The performance was presented during the 5th Half-Marathon of Performative Readings of Documentary Theatre “Katastrofa.dok."
